Meet Adina
Adina Swan is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a deep passion for working with adolescents and young adults. She believes the teenage years are some of the most important — and often most misunderstood — seasons of life. Rather than viewing adolescence as something to simply “get through,” Adina sees it as a powerful period of identity formation, growth, and possibility.
Adina earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. After spending a year living abroad, she attended Northeastern University, where she completed her Master of Science in Counseling Psychology. Throughout her graduate training and post-master’s clinical work, Adina focused on supporting youth and families across a variety of settings, including In-Home Therapy, group home care, outpatient clinics, and municipal mental health.
In 2016, Adina obtained her LMHC in the state of Massachusetts after completing her post-master’s training at Wayside Youth & Family Support Network in Framingham, where she provided in-home and outpatient therapy to families throughout the MetroWest area. In 2018, she became the Clinical Director of North Crossing, a therapeutic group home for adolescents ages 12–18 in Newton, MA. After the program’s closure in 2019, Adina joined Walker Therapeutic & Educational Services in Needham, MA, providing outpatient therapy to teens and young adults and supporting clients through the unique challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Prior to starting Open Area Counseling Services in 2026, Adina worked at Westwood Youth & Family Services, where she provided outpatient psychotherapy and parent coaching to residents of Westwood, MA. In addition to her clinical work, she facilitated high school volunteer programs and led therapeutic groups for elementary and middle school students.
In 2025, Adina completed formal training in SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) through the Yale Child Study Center and has since provided structured parent coaching and facilitated parent groups using this evidence-based model.
Outside of her professional work, Adina enjoys swimming, traveling, and spending time with her husband, their two young children, and their dog. She is also a proud supporter of the Wisconsin Badgers in every sport.
